I'm frequently asked Why Circles? Good question. Since as long as I can remember, I've always loved to draw and always been a doodler. No matter how much I enjoy painting with watercolor, acrylic, glazes on ceramics, and creating with other fun art mediums, I always come back to drawing.

The "circles" began March 2011, I presented a project to my Basic Drawing Classes (High School) on Mandalas. At first, it was just another class art project that had plenty of history, multicultural and geographical integration.

However, through our Mandala Unit, I discovered that my usual "doodling" and drawing took a dramatic turn when I began with the circular shape as a foundation. It especially took hold when I was showing one of my students a fun way to use pen and ink for one of their "free design" Mandalas.

I soon found myself addicted to using the circles.

I never thought it would take me to where I am in just a short amount of time, but here we are! I resigned from teaching after May 2011 to stay at home for a few years with our youngest child. I fully intended to pursue my own personal art projects, but I never would have predicted the pen and ink "circles" as a main focus. I specialize in various themes, but I love adding the Moon, Sun, and Stars in every piece in one way or another. It's ironic that I love drawing the sun, because being an Arizona native and so "over it", I only prefer to see the sun in artwork! (I guess I'm a little like a vampire in that respect).

I also focus on LDS specific themes in some of my art, because being LDS, I wanted a more "whimsical" and "out of the box" way to display a particular theme or landmark. I also take this way of thinking into Custom work that I've been asked to do by others. I've already been commissioned to do various custom pieces (a large one for a teenager who was sad about leaving her school and moving away), Baby announcement custom motif, wedding themed motifs, and it can go on and on!
